Welcome Future
S'Cool Teachers!
This is
where you can tell us all about you, your course ideas, your background, how
we can get in contact with you and a whole lot more. If you're just wanting
more information about how we operate, please see
Why Teach At The S'Cool. It describes many of the reason why our
instructors are our instructors - what they receive from teaching their
courses through The S'Cool, as well as the many benefits we offer as a
synergistic group of educators and business owners. Whether you have a
business or just a love to teach, you'll find The S'Cool to be a unique
collection of very talented people.
If you have read how we operate, or are already familiar with what we do,
and would like to submit a course idea, please do the following before you
fill out this form page:
-
Why
Teach at The S'Cool: (Unless you already know)
Make sure you have read Why Teach At The S'Cool so you'll have a feel
for how, when and for what instructors are paid, as well as the benefits.
-
Know
What We Already Offer:
Check our website to see if we
already offer a course that is the same or similar to what you had in mind
to teach - we try to protect instructors and their courses by not adding too
many others who offer the same or similar courses. That doesn't mean you
shouldn't fill out the form because we already offer a course that is the
same or similar - for instance: if one instructor is limited in the
locations they are available to teach, we may have more than one instructor
teaching the same or similar course in different areas of the metroplex.
Also, from time to time we have instructors leave us, which also leave open
opportunities for someone else to offer the same or similar course of their
own. Note: We do give preference to
those who have been with us the longest
-
Similar Course Offerings: If you do plan to submit a course that is similar, try to do it from a
different angle or perspective, so that it is uniquely different from an
existing course. If you have a course that is totally different than
what we currently offer, and we decide to offer that course, you too will be
protected the same way mentioned above.
-
I
Already Have a Facility and Offer Courses:
If you have your own training facilities, we can help market those classes
through our website and catalog - see Why Teach for The S'Cool for more
details.

Just
Trying to Sell a Product? - Please Read:
Please understand that we are NOT a forum to sell products only - we sell
knowledge, information and skill enhancements. If you have products to sell, we recommend that you offer those
products as an addendum to the knowledge you are presenting, and not as a
requirement. If your course can not be taught without the purchase of
a particular branded product, you need to re-think your offering. Your
course needs to give generic information about the subject for which you
wish to teach, and not involve a product you sell. In many of our course, there are training materials or
"kits" which are required for the class - in most of those cases, as long as
the "kit" is something the student could obtain outside the class and bring
with them, and the course is not dependent on a certain brand of those
materials, we feel the perception of that class will be more about the knowledge
and not about the sales of a particular product. We don't want
students feeling as if they paid to learn the knowledge or skills, but instead, paid
to sit through an "info-mercial".
If you have a question about products
being sold in the classroom, please add it to the Additional Comments section near the bottom of the form.
We do, however, offer advertising on our website and in our catalog, and
would be more than happy to discuss ads for your products. If you'd like
more information about advertising with The S'Cool, please contact our
Marketing and Advertising Department -

A Tip
About Course Length
Most of our courses are at least 2 hours in one class session, and some
will be longer based on the type course they are - usually computer
classes are typically 6 hours per level, where as language courses are
usually about 9 to 12 hours in length. Even others are only one hour in
length or are done in multiple 1 hour class sessions because of the
physical nature of the course, such as Martial Arts or Tai Chi.
If you plan to teach a lecture course, think about this - a one hour
course is priced the highest, because it takes just as much time and
energy to setup the course in the catalog, on the web, in the classroom,
prepare hand-outs, and handle the administration of signups,
cancellation notices, re-assignments, rescheduling, instructor and
facility notification, etc. than a course that is structure for 2, 3, 4,
5, or 6 hours.
From a student stand-point, they would much rather spend the time it
will take to drive to and from a facility if the course length is equal
to or greater than their travel time. If you spend an hour to get
to a class, but the class is only an hour long, you've now invested 2
hours of travel time for a one hour course - and for that hour you've
spent $25 minimum (which is our minimum tuition for any course). Our
current retail prices for most lecture courses (which require no
additional equipment per student) are based on $13 per course hour after
2 hours in length.
We recommend that your course length (for non-physical courses) be a
minimum of 2 hours, for the perspective students to feel as if they will
getting their money's worth for the time investment.
After you
have submitted the information form below, we will go through a review
process to determine whether or not we offer, which location we may offer,
and and when we may offer your course(s). If one or all of your courses have
been approved you'll be notified as to the status of each - accepted "as is"
or with recommended alterations that may include such things as course
length, different approaches (for marketing reasons), an alternate course
title (again for marketing reasons), or different location concerns. You may
also receive a "declined" status, which we will share with you. Many
times a declined status may only mean we feel we would not be able to offer
that type of class at the current time, or that we feel the course you're
submitting may not match our audience, goes against our mission statement,
or is of a subject matter we don't feel our host locations would feel
comfortable facilitating. (example: Learn How to Become a Fire-Eater)
Once your
course(s) are totally approved, we will attempt to get your classes
scheduled as soon as possible. If you miss the current deadline for
our printed catalog, we will still place your classes on our website, and
your scheduled classes will be listed in next upcoming issue of our catalog.
Please be aware that currently, people find us and our classes more often
through search engines on the web than any other means of marketing - so
having a listing on the web and not in the current catalog does not mean
people won't see your courses.
For those who wish to teach computer courses, please see the list below, add
any additional courses you would like to teach in the
Courses You Would Like to Teach section, complete and submit this
form, and on the following page you'll have a chance to tell us which of the
listed computer courses you would like to teach.
We are excited and pleased that you will be joining us on our journey
to fill the leisure learning void here in the D/FW area. We're expecting it
will be a great ride! Glad you decided to join us!
